6" diameter hand formed stoneware dishes, shino glazed and detailed with Malcolm Davis slip and fired in a reduction kiln for one of a kind results. Shells were strategically placed on the plates before firing to leave their texture and color imprinted on the plates.
They look great wall hung or in a stand, especially when illuminated.

This wood fired red clay stoneware scalloped plate is 6" in diameter. The markings are intentionally made by pressing small balls of clay mixture called "wadding" onto the plate before it goes into the kiln so that when the wadding is removed its absence leaves a pattern. I think it looks like a cartoon face of a ghost but I have a very active imagination.
