Truly one of a kind. The ambrotype was a self portrait made and rejected for his purposes by my husband.
I wondered what would happen if I slumped it on top of a piece of glass in my kiln. I LOVED it!
Just after this firing the kiln broke. It turns out for several weeks it had not been firing at the displayed temperature and since I didn't use witness cones I don't know what that temperature was. I have been trying for years since to get ambrotypes to fuse this way but no dice.

This is a reclaimed decorative top of an electrical switch plate fused into a glass tray suitable for hanging or tabletop display. Can hold items too. SKU# LGW-102-10
This display plate is made by slumping window glass in a crenellated form with a scattering of colored glass bits on top.
I purposely fired it very hot and fast to give it a blue translucent textured surface and lend it depth and dimension by trapping air bubbles inside.
Coated on the back with glass paint so hanging hardware or stand won't show through.

Camera Chimera 2 is the result of taking a glass plate collodion ambrotype image of a camera, putting it on top of a sheet of window glass with metal leaf in between and melting it in the kiln.
I think the camera became a chimera judging by the look! Put in a stand, hang on the wall or lay flat.

Not recommended for dining or serving.
Part of a series of artworks I made taking found objects and encasing them between 2 pieces of glass that I slumped in a tray-shaped form.
This was one of my favorite earrings. Alas I lost the other one. So I memorialized it by sandwiching it between 2 pieces of window glass on top of a piece of aluminum leaf.
Back is painted with opaque glass paint.
You can put it in a stand, hang it on a wall or lay it flat. You can even use it as a vessel.
Since there are slight fractures in the glass near the earring I can't recommend it for food use.

I sandwiched one of my husband's glass plate collodion negative ambrotype photos of an antique camera between 2 sheets of glass with some glass chips in between to give it air as it melted. The result is this yellow abstract image.
If you look really closely you can see a the camera.

Some of my best artwork is made from bits and pieces I find lying in the gutters on walks or jogs. Some unlucky soul is driving around missing the medallion off their very nice car. I memorialized it on top of a piece of metal leaf between two pieces of window glass and slumped it into a round form. 8" in diameter and about 1/4" high with the back coated in glass paint. Display in a stand, hang on the wall or flat.

The metal bugle is actually a bookmark!
I sandwiched it between 2 pieces of window glass on top of a piece of imitation gold leaf that burned Caribbean blue in the firing.
